Furthermore, I believe that objectivity is an important journalistic standard, but I do not think that journalists should refrain from being involved in their communities for fear of appearing biased, especially in a wold in which our very existence as a species is at risk. However, in such a climate, transparency and openness are indispensable. Therefore, I wish to also disclose that I also happen to work as a freelance translator for several environmental groups in NB; I have family members who are actively involved in the environmental movement in NB, and I happen to also be a federal public servant (seasonal employment during the summer months).
Despite these connections, I strive for objective, fair and truthful storytelling. I promise to be transparent about my connections, and I hope the visitors to my site will understand that there are certain topics I will not cover if they give rise to a conflict of interest.
