Part-time environmental journalist and part-time environmental educator
I am a settler of Acadian/German descent, working on the unceded traditional territory of the Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik and Peskotomuhkati peoples, learning how to be a better treaty partner and citizen of Mi’kma’ki.
My educational background is in environmental and sustainability studies, biology, journalism and environmental education (BA, BJ, MES). I am a passionate amateur photographer and naturalist.
Due to the seasonal nature of my primary occupation, New Lynx Media is currently only active during the winter months, though I am collecting story ideas and contacts year-round. Please get in touch if you have any ideas you’d like to share!
*disclosure: While objectivity is an important journalistic standard, I disagree that journalists should refrain from being involved in their communities for fear of appearing biased. However, transparency and openness are essential. Therefore, I wish to disclose that I happen to also do work as a freelance translator for several environmental groups in NB; I have family members who are actively involved in the environmental movement in NB and I happen to also be a federal public servant (seasonal employment during the summer months). Despite these connections, I will strive for objective, fair and truthful storytelling. I will be transparent about my connections, and there are some topics I will not cover if they give rise to a conflict of interest.
