*disclosure: While objectivity is an important journalistic standard, I disagree that journalists should refrain from being involved in their communities for fear of appearing biased. However, transparency and openness are essential. Therefore, I wish to disclose that I happen to also do work as a freelance translator for several environmental groups in NB; I have family members who are actively involved in the environmental movement in NB and I happen to also be a federal public servant (seasonal employment during the summer months). Despite these connections, I will strive for objective, fair and truthful storytelling. I will be transparent about my connections, and there are some topics I will not cover if they give rise to a conflict of interest.
